"In Iowa, all dogs over 6 months of age are required to be vaccinated against rabies by a licensed veterinarian. The state department of agriculture and land stewardship recognizes the standards set forth in the Compendium of Animal Rabies Prevention and Control Guidelines. Currently, there are approved rabies vaccines for use in dogs and other animals that are as young as 3 months of age."
